SENSE OF THE BOARD RESOLUTION
CONGRATULATING POLICE OFFICER ANGEL L. GONZALEZ
ON BEING NAMED POLICE OFFICER OF THE YEAR
WHEREAS, Stamford Police Officer Angel L. Gonzalez has been selected by his peers as the Stamford Police Associationsí Police Officer of the year; and
††††††††††† WHEREAS, Stamford Police officer Angel L. Gonzalez collared a man who mugged a 62 year-old woman waiting for a bus and nabbed four car thieves by removing the distributor cap from their vehicle; and
††††††††††† WHEREAS, Stamford Police Officer Angel L. Gonzalez has also worked as a decoy to catch robbers targeting immigrant day laborers in the South End and was robbed five times at knifepoint during the undercover operation; and
††††††††††† WHEREAS, Stamford police Officer Angel L. Gonzalez was born in Puerto Rico, but moved to Stamford when he was a boy growing up on the West Side and in the South End.† After graduating from Stamford High School, he spent four years as a U.S. Army paratrooper; and
††††††††††† WHEREAS, Stamford Police Officer Angel L. Gonzalezís career has been spent patrolling the West Side where many of the residents know him by name.
††††††††††† NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the 26th Stamford Board of Representatives goes on official record congratulating Stamford Police Officer Angel L. Gonzalez on being named Police Officer of the Year.
