SENSE OF THE BOARD RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING THE STUDENTS IN THE FIRST LEGO LEAGUE AT HART MAGNET SCHOOL ON THEIR OUSTANDING ACCOMPLISHMENTS AT THE 4TH CONNECTICUT FIRST LEGO LEAGUE ROBOTICS COMPETITION, 2002 CITY SIGHTS CHALLENGE
WHEREAS, the 2002 City Sights Challenge explores the obstacles and restrictions that urban planners face in order to provide basic services such as housing, clean water, a safe environment, medical assistance, sustainable energy and mass transportation and communication venues to the inhabitants of a city by considering variables such as population, finite land and water resources in the exploration of effective solutions; and
WHEREAS, Fifth Graders John Andrianos, Jeremy de Jongh, James Forde, Zachary Gold, Blossom Greene, Willy Hart, Rachel Naumann, Rob Slifkin, Johanna Piedra and Jyotsna Winsor, were members of the Metrobes Team #435, working under the direction of Head Coach/Research Mentor Diane Nobile, Science teacher; and
WHEREAS, the Metrobes Team was awarded a Second Place trophy for Robot Performance, which is presented to the team whose robot, through solid design and programming, achieved the best score on the City Sights competition field; and
WHEREAS, The Metrobes Team was awarded a Third Place trophy for Research on the City of Stamford, which is presented to the team whose quality research, innovative solutions and creative presentation best reflect an in-depth understanding of the various scientific disciplines and issues involved with the City Sights Challenge Research Assignment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the 26th Stamford Board of Representatives proudly goes on official record congratulating Hart Magnet Team #435 for winning two trophies in this highly competitive event.
